“My thoughts and prayers are with the people affected by last night’s storm. While I am thankful to report there are no serious injuries at this time, my heart goes out to those whose homes were damaged or destroyed. I’ve been in contact with the governor’s office and plan on visiting the affected community today. My office stands ready to assist state and local teams with any recovery efforts,” commented Congressman Walberg.

U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg voted favor of H.R. 5, the Protecting Access to Healthcare (PATH) Act. The legislation passed by 223 to 181.

H.R. 5 will repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) created under President Obama’s health care law. The legislation will lower the cost of health care by reforming the medical liability system. Specifically it will cut costs by reducing lawsuits and eliminating defensive medicine.

U.S. Congressman Tim Walberg voted in favor of the fiscal year 2013 Budget to cut government spending and protect taxpayer dollars. The budget will restore fiscal responsibility to the federal government, strengthen Medicare and repeal the President’s burdensome health care law. The bill passed 228 by 191.

Rep Tim Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 9, the Small Business Tax Cut Act, to help small businesses to grow and hire new workers. H.R. 9 provides companies with fewer than 500 employers with a one-year tax deduction equal to 20% of their active business income, regardless of how the business is organized. The bill passed by a vote of 235 -173-1.

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg presented First Sergeant Jerry J. Richards, Jr., a Battle Creek native, with the Purple Heart medal for injuries he sustained while serving in Afghanistan.

“There is no greater privilege than honoring a war veteran for his bravery and faithful service to our country. It’s because of men like First Sergeant Richards that we enjoy such freedom in America. For that, we say thank you,” commented Congressman Walberg following the award presentation.
