Whistleblowers

Whistleblowers play a vital role in helping Congress to conduct its constitutionally mandated oversight responsibilities. Their disclosures can make a difference.

Various U.S. laws prohibit retaliation for providing information to Congress, including 5 U.S. Code § 2302 (Prohibited Personnel Practices) for many Executive Branch employees and numerous other whistleblower statutes for private-sector employees. However, individuals still take serious risks when they make allegations of wrongdoing.

Do not submit classified information or other information barred from release through this form.

To better protect your communications, do not contact us using work resources or while you are working. Further, consider consulting an attorney or whistleblower support organization experienced in representing whistleblowers before you make a disclosure.

In addition, the House of Representative’s Office of the Whistleblower Ombuds has guiding resources that can be accessed on its Resources for Whistleblowers page. Please note that the Office of the Whistleblower Ombuds is not authorized to receive disclosures from whistleblowers.
