Washington, D.C. - Today, the House passed Rep. Walberg's bill, H.R. 3534, to rename the U.S. Post Office located at 113 West Michigan Ave in Jackson after police officer James Bonneau.

On March 9, 2010, Officer James Bonneau was killed while on duty as he and a fellow public safety officer followed up on a domestic disturbance complaint. Although he later succumbed to his wounds, Officer Bonneau was able to call for help and relay information about the scene that saved the life of his fellow officer who had also been shot.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 4718, legislation to make permanent a tax provision that would allow companies to deduct half the cost of new business investments. By permanently extending the 50 percent bonus depreciation, businesses will have better access to capital, invest in new facilities and create new jobs. H.R. 4718 amends the Internal Revenue Code to permanently allow businesses to expense half of the cost of new equipment purchases and lift some restrictions to allow certain tax credits to be used for reinvestment.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 803, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), a bipartisan, bicameral agreement to reform the nation's workforce development system and help workers gain the education and skills they need for today's economy. WIOA is a compromise with the Senate based on the House-passed Supporting Knowledge and Lifelong Skills (SKILLS) Act passed in March 2013. WIOA passed by a vote of 415-6 and now heads to the President for his signature.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 4899, the Lowering Gasoline Prices to Fuel an America That Works Act, to lower prices for consumers by expanding production of America's energy resources. Specifically, H.R. 4899 will require that the Administration move forward with new offshore energy production in areas containing the most oil and natural gas resources, remove government roadblocks and ensure resources from Alaska are developed and are transported quicker and more efficiently.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 3301, the North American Energy Infrastructure Act, a bipartisan effort to increase the flow of North American energy to markets and consumers. The legislation passed by a vote of 238-173.

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 4457, America's Small Business Tax Relief Act. H.R. 4457 will help small businesses improve their cash flow, lower costs, and grow their companies by making expensing levels outlined in section 179 of the tax code permanent. The bipartisan legislation passed by a vote of 272 – 144.

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 4810, the Veterans Access to Care Act, to help alleviate the extraordinarily long wait times at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system.

H.R. 4810 would allow veterans to utilize non-VA healthcare providers if the enrolled veteran resides more than 40 miles from a VA medical facility, has waited longer than the wait time goals for a medical appointment, or has been notified by VA that an appointment is not available within the wait-time goals.

Washington, D.C. Rep. Walberg has introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure living Medal of Honor recipients receive timely access to their health benefits. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) uses a priority scale to determine eligibility for health care services, and H.R.4720, the Medal of Honor Priority Care Act, would place Medal of Honor recipients in the highest priority group.
