Walberg Votes to Protect Dignity of Human Life

September 18, 2015
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today to place a one-year moratorium on all federal funding to Planned Parenthood while Congress completes its investigations into the organization's harvesting of baby parts for profit. H.R. 3134 also redirects and increases federal funding to the more than 13,000 community health centers and hospitals nationwide—including 421 in Michigan—that provide comprehensive women's health care but do not perform abortions. "The true test of a compassionate society is how we treat the most vulnerable and defenseless among us. No matter what party you belong to, we should all agree that taxpayer dollars should not be used for harvesting baby parts for profit. As the House continues its investigation into these gruesome practices, this legislation seeks to protect unborn babies in this country and increase access to high quality women's health care that they deserve," said Walberg.

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Education and the Workforce Committee as Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
