Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.), the chairman of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, met Tuesday with Columbia students on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. to discuss the experience of Jewish students on campus since former University President Minouche Shafik testified before the committee on April 17, 2024.

Republicans are demanding records showing the extent to which the Biden administration used taxpayer money to defend its position that student-athletes are employees of the universities for which they play. Representatives Tim Walberg, R-Mich., and Rick Allen, R-Ga., made the request in a letter to Marvin Kaplan, the National Labor Relations Board's (NLRB) newly appointed chairman, and acting General Counsel William Cowen.

A local high school student was accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, after receiving a call from his U.S. representative Jan. 6. Miles Brown, a senior at Hillsdale High School, checked his phone to find a voicemail from Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Michigan, who said Brown had been accepted.
