Politico: House report spreads blame for rise in antisemitism on college campuses

March 17, 2026

The House education committee on Tuesday released a report blaming college “leadership failures and radical faculty and student groups” for driving antisemitism on campus.

In a 59-page report, the committee's majority staff scrutinized campus leadership, faculty and student groups — especially Students for Justice in Palestine — for their roles in antiwar protests on campus.

The report said it found faculty “incited antisemitic protests that turned violent,” “taught antisemitic content in their courses” and “isolated Jewish students” in their programming.

Meanwhile, SJP allegedly “served as ringleaders for the antisemitic harassment faced by Jewish students” and their colleges failed to “meaningfully discipline” them. The group could not be immediately reached for comment.

“Republicans remain committed to holding college and university leaders accountable for their failures,” House Education and Workforce Chair Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) said in a statement. “Time and again, school leaders appeared before my Committee and failed to take responsibility for the hatred they let spiral out of control. Let the release of this report serve as an important reminder: if university leaders forget their legal responsibility to address discrimination of any form on campus, my colleagues and I will remind them.”
