WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Just because the federal government is shut down doesn't mean those who have made an impact in their communities won't be honored during the yearly Angels in Adoption ceremony in Washington, D.C.
One of this year's recipients is Hillsdale resident Heather Tritchka-Stuchell, who is being recognized for her commitment to helping children in the Hillsdale area.

Washington, D.C. - Today Rep Walberg voted to provide immediate funding for border security programs at the Department of Homeland Security. The legislation passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 249 - 175 and is now before the Senate for further consideration.

Washington, D.C. - Today Rep Walberg voted for the Honoring the Families of a Fallen Soldiers Act. The legislation passed with overwhelming bipartisan support by a vote of 425 -0 and is now before the Senate for further consideration. Last week Congress unanimously passed the Pay Our Military Act with the intent that all military pay and allowances would be dispersed during a government shutdown. However, the Department of Defense determined the law did not authorize them to continue death gratuity payments to families.

Washington, D.C. - Today Rep Walberg voted to provide immediate funding for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The legislation passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 252-172and is now before the Senate for further consideration.

Washington, D.C. –Today Rep Walberg welcomed Hillsdale Resident Heather, Tritchka-Stuchell, and her family to Washington, D.C. to receive the 2013 Angels in Adoption award. Heather was chosen for her advocacy on behalf of the needs of children. She and her husband, Greg, are the parents of Chloe, 11, and Olivia, 9, a special needs child born in Taiwan and adopted by the couple.

Washington, D.C. - Today Rep Walberg voted for legislation to provide a possible venue for negotiations with Senate Democrats on reopening the government and addressing the debt limit in a fiscally responsible manner. The legislation establishes a 20-member negotiating team made up of House and Senate Republicans and Democrats that would immediately begin negotiations aimed a finding a path forward.

Washington, D.C. - Today Rep Walberg voted to provide immediate funding for the Head Start program. The legislation passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 248 - 168 and is now before the Senate for further consideration.

WASHINGTON ? A day after the federal government officially shutdown many services and limited others, U.S. Rep Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, went on the offensive Wednesday saying the shutdowns were caused by Democratic leaders in the Senate and the President.
