Walberg Applauds Bipartisan Passage of Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act

February 2, 2016
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act, bipartisan legislation that strengthens congressional oversight of U.S. sanctions against Iran and prohibits the Obama administration from lifting sanctions on individuals or banks until certifying they are not involved in terror financing, human rights abuse, or the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

"Since the Obama administration sealed the Iran nuclear deal, Iran's rogue regime has continued to act provocatively, including giving medals to commanders who captured American sailors and twice testing ballistic missiles in violation with U.N. resolutions. Ignoring those provocations and providing sanctions relief to groups who have records of supporting terrorism will only add to the instability in the region. While the President may turn a blind eye, the House is taking bipartisan action to protect the American people and our interests at home and abroad," said Walberg.

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Education and the Workforce Committee as Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
