The bipartisan legislation, which passed the House by 344-77, is fiscally responsible, with the funding fully paid for and subjected to oversight and review to ensure its efficient and effective use.

H.R. 5, the Student Success Act, will reduce the federal footprint in education, empower parents and teachers at the local level, and prevent the Secretary of Education from coercing states into adopting Common Core or any other common standards.

Zachary is a rising senior at Jackson High School and he received first place for his charcoal drawing entitled "Interference." It features a woman who is spouting knowledge and a boy who struggles to remember everything he must learn.
