Speaker Ryan Names Walberg to National Defense Conference Committee

July 8, 2016

Washington, D.C.—Today, Speaker Paul Ryan named Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) to serve on a bipartisan conference committee charged with producing a final National Defense Authorization Act to fund the military, give our troops a well-deserved pay raise, and secure the homeland.

"Maintaining a strong national defense is vital to keeping the American people safe from the mounting security threats we face. America's military shoulders an enormous burden to defend our country, and we must provide them with every resource necessary to perform their missions. I'm honored for this opportunity to put together a final bill that shows our men in women in uniform we have their back when they answer the call to service," said Walberg.

"I want to thank Congressman Walberg for his unwavering commitment to support our troops who risk their lives every day for the safety of this country. This bill recognizes the need to build a 21st century military, and with his leadership, I'm confident we can send it to the president's desk soon," said Speaker Ryan.

Once the conference committee reaches an agreement, the House and Senate will vote on final passage before it is sent to the president for his signature. Click here for the full list of House Republican conferees.
