Rep Tim Walberg released the following statement on the 11th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks:

“My thoughts and prayers go out to those that lost husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, children and friends on September 11th. We will never forget them or the first responders who risked their lives to save others. It’s also important to remember the brave men and women in our armed services who continue to serve our country and defend our freedom.”

Today, the national debt hit the record high of $16 trillion, an increase of more than 50 percent since President Obama’s ‘stimulus’ went into effect. In response, Rep Walberg released the following statement:

Rep Tim Walberg voted today in favor of H.R. 4480, the Domestic Energy and Jobs Act. The legislation is an all-of-the-above American energy plan that will help job creators by embracing domestic energy production, reining in burdensome regulations and planning for America’s future energy production. The bill passed by a bipartisan vote of 248 to 163.

H.R. 750, Defending America's Affordable Energy and Jobs Act, reached a legislative milestone yesterday and picked up its 100th cosponsor. The legislation would prevent the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases without Congressional approval and stop Washington bureaucrats from implementing a cap-and-trade program that will drive up energy prices on families and businesses. H.R. 750 has been endorsed by a host of public policy organizations and taxpayer groups, and is a companion bill to Senator Barrasso’s (R-WY) S.228.

In response to today’s Supreme Court ruling on President Obama’s health care law, Rep Tim Walberg released the following statement:

“Today the Supreme Court ruled that President Obama broke his pledge of the law not increasing taxes and that there does not seem to be a limit to what the federal government can force us to do. Although I am stunned by the nature of the ruling, it in no way prevents Congress from repealing and replacing the law in the future.

Rep Tim Walberg voted in favor today of H.R. 6079, the Repeal of Obamacare Act. The bill passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 244-185.

Rep Tim Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 459, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act to permit a full audit of the United States Federal Reserve by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The bill passed by a bipartisan vote of 327 to 98.

Rep Tim Walberg voted on two pieces of legislation this week aimed at providing economic regulatory relief.

H.R. 4078, the Red Tape Reduction and Small Business Job Creation Act, freezes costly new regulations until national unemployment drops to six-percent or lower, gives small businesses the ability to intervene before government agencies agree to binding legal settlements that require them to issue more onerous regulation and increases transparency for federal agencies that have been operating beyond the purview of regulatory review.

Rep Walberg introduced legislation this week to help lower taxes and bring more certainty for individuals and small business owners.

Specifically, H.R. 6225 would make tax cuts permanent, eliminate the death tax, index the capital gains tax for inflation, and include an alternative minimum tax (AMT) patch for 2012.
