Right now, that includes developing a healthy economy so hardworking individuals can find and keep good-paying jobs, providing access to education and training, lowering tax rates, ensuring access to affordable health care and reducing energy and fuel costs. I have been working with my congressional colleagues toward these goals to restore growth and prosperity now while also securing it for the future.

"Every year, over 1.2 million unborn children die at the hands of abortionists, suffering excruciating pain. As a father and grandfather this sickens me. Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Mich., said at a House Education and the Workforce Committee hearing this morning that the Labor Department expanded the reach of Davis-Bacon Act without public comment earlier this year.

Davis-Bacon is a law that requires contractors engaged in any federally-funded construction project to affirm that they are paying workers the prevailing local wage. Big Business dislikes the law, calling it a time-consuming and often subjective process. The law is strongly-favored by Big Labor though since it serves to remove any economic incentive to hire non-union labor.

It's been more than three years since President Obama signed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act into law, and it's becoming obvious that it will neither protect patients, nor make their health care more affordable, but instead will cause millions of Americans to lose access to their current health care, lead to higher premium rates and hurt job creation.

That's why I recently voted to repeal the president's law in its entirety. Until we stop this train wreck of a law, our families and small businesses will continue to suffer under it.
