Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg reintroduced his legislation, H.R. 272 or the Medal of Honor Priority Care Act, to ensure living Medal of Honor recipients receive timely access to their health benefits. The Department of Veterans Affairs uses a priority scale to determine eligibility for health care services, and this legislation would place Medal of Honor recipients, who are currently allocated to Priority Group 3, in the highest priority group.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg voted today for H.R. 3 to authorize construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The vote came just hours after a major decision by the Nebraska Supreme Court to throw out a lawsuit challenging the pipeline's route in the state.

– Today the House passed the Save American Workers Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by Representatives Todd Young (IN-9), Dan Lipinski (IL-3), Tim Walberg (MI-7), Pete Olson (TX-22) and Mike Kelly (PA-3) to repeal the 30-hour definition of "full-time employment" under the Affordable Care Act and replace it with the traditional 40-hour definition.

JACKSON, MI - To Amy Bonneau, another chance for the city to remember her son was the best gift she could have gotten this Christmas season.

Her son, Jackson Police Officer James Bonneau, was killed in the line of duty in 2010. On Thursday afternoon, President Barack Obama signed a bill into law that will rename the Jackson Post Office after him.

When she got the news Thursday evening, Amy Bonneau said she couldn't have been happier.

"It was just a nice surprise. The timing is perfect," Amy Bonneau said. "It's like a Christmas gift to Jim."

Washington, D.C. – President Obama signed into law a bill to rename the U.S. Post Office in downtown Jackson as the "Officer James Bonneau Memorial Post Office." Officer James Bonneau was killed in 2010 while on duty as he and a fellow public safety officer followed up on a domestic disturbance complaint. The legislation introduced by Rep. Tim Walberg, H.R. 3534, passed the House on July 14, 2014 and received final Congressional approval in the Senate on December 8.

Today, the House passed the National Defense Authorization Act to provide funding, pay, and authorities for the Armed Forces in 2015. The legislation passed on a bipartisan vote of 300-119 and includes a number of important provisions to provide for our nation's defense and military personnel, including language offered by Rep. Walberg and Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) to assist new veterans as they transition back into civilian life.

Today, Rep. Walberg voted in support of H.R. 647, the ABLE Act of 2014, legislation he cosponsored to create tax-free savings accounts for people born with disabilities to save for future, qualified expenses such as education, housing and medical expenses. H.R. 647 passed with a strong bipartisan vote of 404-17.
