Jackson, MI—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today announced that Carter Gough, who just completed his sophomore year at Grand Ledge High School, is the winner of the 2016 Congressional Art competition for Michigan's 7th District. Carter received first place for his stippling ink drawing entitled "Salvador Dali," a portrait of artist Salvador Dali.

JACKSON, MI – Three Jackson County graduates are among six students nominated by U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg for appointment to U.S. military academies.

Walberg, R-Tipton, represents Michigan's 7th District.

The Jackson County students receiving nominations from him and offers of admission to a U.S. military academy are:

Duncan Farrant – U.S. Naval Academy. He is the son of Billy and Cindy Farrant and a Hanover-Horton High School graduate.

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today voted for legislation opposing President Obama's proposal to increase energy prices by imposing an additional $10 tax on every barrel of oil. The House also voted to oppose a national carbon tax, another misguided attempt by the administration to raise energy costs on the American people.

Legislation proposed Thursday by two Michigan members of Congress would require the Veterans Affairs hospitals to report every three months on surgical infections and cancellations.

U.S. Reps. Debbie Dingell, D-Dearborn, and Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, introduced the bill, which comes as a reaction to concerns raised about particulate matter being found on surgical equipment trays at a VA center in Ann Arbor.
