Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today supported bipartisan legislation to add the Zika virus to the Food and Drug Administration's Priority Review Voucher Program, which would help expedite the development of vaccines and treatments for the mosquito-borne virus. It passed the House unanimously and now heads to the President's desk.

Here in Lenawee County, more than 200 people recently came together at Siena Heights University for the third Lenawee Addiction Summit to confront this public health crisis.

In an effort to help ease the pain for veterans working through endless mazes of red tape, on Friday Congressman Tim Walberg hosted a Veterans Claims Fair. The event provided "one stop shopping" that allowed veterans to visit several agencies at one location.

Seventy-five veterans from throughout the area took advantage of the opportunity to find assistance that's out there but not necessarily known to them.

Ann Arbor, MI – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) and Congresswoman Debbie Dingell (MI-12) today co-hosted a Veterans Fair to provide veterans and their family members throughout Washtenaw County with access to resources earned through their service to our country. More than 20 different veterans employment specialists, Veterans Affairs counselors and veterans services organizations participated. Walberg and Dingell both represent parts of Washtenaw County, and this is the second Veterans Fair they have hosted for local veterans and their families.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved American Airlines' petition to the Federal Aviation Administration for an exemption to bring back a round-trip flight between Lansing and Washington, D.C.

The announcement comes five months after Sun Country Airlines stopped offering the service.

The approval authorizes American Airlines to begin one round-trip daily flight between Capital Region International Airport and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport 90 days from Thursday, March 31, according to a press release from the Lansing airport.

April Demers is no stranger to addiction — she was born into it.

At a young age, April slept in the car while her mom drank at the bar. As she grew up, April's mom would disappear for days, leaving her to fend for herself.

These experiences made April determined to reverse the trends of addiction.

"I was dead-set that it was going to stop with my generation. It's about choice. And my choice was how can I not be that?" April told the Monroe News.
