Congressmen Mike Bishop and Tim Walberg conducted a hearing today, to hear from witnesses on why a new policy by the Department of Labor, could be restricting to the ever-changing workforce.
Uber, Lyft and Air B&B are all self contracted jobs, and they are growing in popularity, but this new policy could be the end of these new start up businesses.
"While this may sound good because employees get some extra protection that individual contractors don't, but getting those protections comes with giving up flexibility," Manhattan Institute Fellow Jared Meyers said.

Standing before an audience of mostly family, he had to pause, trying to control inevitable emotion, as he recalled a soldier he knew only as Able.
Able took a fatal shot in the neck as he moved to support Lyman Cory, a young private in the U.S. Marines fighting in his first battle, Iwo Jima, during World War II.
Only a day earlier, Able had confided he was weary of war and desperate for a superficial injury that would send him away from the front.

Lots of government agencies are watching the clock this year, working to get new rules and regulations approved before the occupant in the White House changes early next year. The lame-duck rush to regulate has become a Washington ritual with its own name — midnight regulations.
