Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, President Obama signed into law Congressman Tim Walberg's (MI-07) bipartisan bill to increase government accountability and reduce wasteful spending. The Grants Oversight and New Efficiency (GONE) Act, introduced along with Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence (MI-14) in the House, requires federal agencies to take action to identify thousands of expired grant accounts with a zero balance that should be closed out.

Washington, D.C. – Today the Oversight and Government Reform Committee marked up H.R. 4358, the Senior Executive Service Accountability Act, legislation Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) authored to provide greater transparency and accountability within the Senior Executive Service (SES). The Senior Executive Service is comprised of senior level employees in managerial, supervisory, and policy positions in the Executive Branch of the federal government.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the Restoring Americans' Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, which dismantles some of the most harmful and unpopular provisions of the President's health care law. It marks the first time since the law's passage a significant repeal of Obamacare heads to the President's desk. Additionally, the bill redirects federal funding away from prohibited abortion providers and instead increases resources for community health centers to ensure women continue to have access to quality care.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07), a member of the Bipartisan Task Force to Combat the Heroin Epidemic, added his support to another piece of bipartisan legislation to combat the growing heroin and prescription opioid epidemic. The Stop Trafficking in Fentanyl Act, introduced by Reps. Tom Rooney (R-FL) and Tim Ryan (D-OH), would toughen trafficking penalties for fentanyl, a dangerous synthetic drug 50 times more potent than heroin that has become increasingly prevalent in drug overdose deaths.

Washington, D.C. – Following reports that surgeries have resumed at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, Representatives Debbie Dingell (MI-12) and Tim Walberg (MI-07) are seeking assurances that the surgeries are not being conducted in unsafe conditions. In November, Dingell wrote to Director Robert P. McDivitt following reports that surgeries for veterans had been canceled or moved to another facility because particulate matter was observed on sterile surgical equipment.
