U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg has been named to serve on a bipartisan conference committee charged with producing a final National Defense Authorization Act.
House Speaker Paul Ryan made the appointment.
Rep. Walberg, R-Tipton, said the law would fund the military, "give our troops a well-deserved pay raise and secure the homeland."

SALINE, MI — Approximately 20 Vietnam War veterans were honored in a special lapel pinning ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the conflict on Thursday, July 21 at the Saline American Legion.
U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg of Michigan's 7th congressional district called each veteran by name, presented them with a pin, and thanked them for their service, valor, and sacrifice.

7th District Congressman Tim Walberg has announced he will be hosting a series of Vietnam veteran lapel-pinning ceremonies across the district over the next few weeks to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.
The ceremony for Branch and Hillsdale Counties will take place on August 10 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hillsdale American Legion,1611 Steamburg Rd in Hillsdale.

A local veteran is walking 60 days and 1,000 miles to bring attention to servicemen suffering from PTSD.
Marty Wills began his journey in the Spring Lake Memorial Day parade and plans to travel to Camp Lajuene, North Carolina. He is currently 350 miles away from his goal in Maryland, walking alone with just a 50-pound pack and American Flag.
