It was a privilege to join with Vice President Mike Pence at an event in Michigan on Friday to talk about growing jobs, paychecks, and a stronger economy.

This week we held a Veterans Fair in Monroe County to help connect veterans and their families with resources earned with their service to our country.

As a result of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, which President Trump signed into law at the end of 2017, the IRS is updating its withholding tables in the month of February. Once that happens, the U.S. Treasury estimates that 90 percent of Americans will start to see a boost in take-home pay.

Despite being signed into law just a few weeks ago, we are already starting to see the positive benefits of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

As 2017 comes to a close, I wanted to update you on the progress we made this year. Over the past year, our focus has been on policies to improve the lives of Michigan families.

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt testified before the Energy and Commerce Committee’s Environment Subcommittee this week, and I pressed him about a number of issues important to protecting the Great Lakes.

As we reflect on our many blessings, may this Thanksgiving be a special time surrounded by those you love most.

This weekend, as we observe Veterans Day, we pause and say thank you to the men and women who answered America’s call to service.
