A year ago, Paul Rohr's family went online to research his service record and death in the Korean War.
Rohr died March 12, 1951, while a prisoner of war in Pyokang, North Korea. When the family was notified in 1951 of the U.S. Army sergeant's capture and subsequent death as a prisoner of war, they never received his military medals.

LUNA PIER - A Vietnam-era veterans pinning ceremony has been announced in conjunction with the Fourth Annual Luna Pier Veterans Day Parade.
The parade steps off at noon Nov. 5 from Water Tower Park, 11309 Harold Dr. The parade route will be from Water Tower Park to Memorial Park at the corner of Harold Drive and Luna Pier Rd.

U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg, R-Tipton, stopped by the Monroe County Learning Bank on Tuesday to donate fiction and non-fiction books to the program.
The books were obtained as part of the Library of Congress Surplus Book Program.
The surplus books were made available to members of Congress to request and donate to eligible organizations and institutions free of charge.
