Walberg Welcomes EPA Regional Administrator to Berrien County

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) welcomed Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 5 Administrator Anne Vogel to southwestern Michigan for a visit to a local brownfield site and a stakeholder roundtable focused on Great Lakes priorities.
Congressman Walberg and Administrator Vogel visited the former Anstey Foundry brownfield site in Stevensville. The site was awarded a $733,250 grant in June 2026, as part of the EPA's Brownfields Program to support cleanup, restoration, and community engagement efforts.
They then traveled to the Village of Michiana for a roundtable discussion with local leaders on Great Lakes Restoration Initiative successes, current basin challenges, and the EPA’s ongoing priorities.
"It was an honor to host Regional Administrator Vogel to highlight our shared commitment to protecting the Great Lakes and discuss the importance of strategic investments to create healthier, revitalized communities," said Rep. Walberg. "Strong partnership with the EPA is essential to meeting the challenges facing the Great Lakes basin, accelerating cleanup efforts, and ensuring Michigan communities remain resilient and thriving for generations to come.”
"Today’s visit underscored how collaboration across all levels of government can move cleanup efforts forward and deliver lasting benefits for the people of Berrien County," said EPA Region 5 Administrator Anne Vogel. "By partnering with local leaders and leveraging federal tools like the Brownfields Program and the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, we are helping communities address legacy contamination, support economic revitalization, and protect one of our nation’s most important water resources."
