Walberg Votes for Legislation Supporting Great Lakes, Advancing Michigan Priorities

December 17, 2019

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today voted for a bipartisan appropriations package that includes funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), Harbor Maintenance Trust Fund, Soo Locks, and other important Michigan priorities. The GLRI received its most amount of federal resources—$320 million—since the program's inception in 2010.

"The Great Lakes are a key driver of Michigan's economic livelihood and central to our way of life," said Walberg. "From expanding Great Lakes shipping to restoring local wetlands and habitats, the critical initiatives supported by this legislation will help generate more good-paying jobs and secure a healthier future for our state. I look forward to continuing to champion the issues that matter to Michigan in the year ahead."

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
