Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions, today voted for legislation to provide families with greater choice and flexibility in the 21st century workplace. H.R. 1180, the Working Families Flexibility Act, allows private-sector employers to offer workers the opportunity to accrue paid time off or comp time for working overtime hours. The bill would extend the same voluntary option to private-sector workers that public-sector employees have benefited from for decades.

"Balancing the needs of work, life, and family can be a constant challenge," said Congressman Walberg. "Outdated federal laws that stand in the way of greater workplace flexibility only add to the time management challenges that families face on a daily basis. This commonsense bill removes unnecessary federal restrictions and offers workers more freedom to juggle their schedule and do what is best for their family."

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Education and the Workforce Committee as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
