Walberg Votes for Cut, Cap, and Balance Budget Proposal

January 25, 2013

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg voted to cut more than $111 billion in federal spending this coming year, approximately $5.8 trillion over the next ten years, cap spending at below 20% of the U.S. economy, and require a vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment. H.R. 2560, the Cut, Cap, & Balance Act of 2011, now moves to the U.S. Senate for consideration.

“This historic vote moves the ball closer to the people’s goal and my goal of cutting out-of-control spending and putting the government back on sound financial footing. That means Congress must pass this plan, put DC on a diet, cut spending and get government out of the way of private-sector job creation,” stated Congressman Walberg.

The bill passed by a vote of 234-190.

“Despite the fact that Democrats never offered their plan for long-term spending reform, I am unwilling to leave a legacy of debt for my kids and grandkids. We must take the necessary steps to encourage the private-sector’s ability to create jobs, enact this plan and ensure a strong economic future for generations,” concluded Congressman Walberg.
