Walberg: Time to Get Serious About Solving Border Crisis
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today released the following statement after voting against H.R. 6, a Democratic bill that proposes amnesty and fails to confront the national security and humanitarian challenges facing our nation’s immigration system.
“Once again, Speaker Pelosi is turning a blind eye to the ongoing crisis at the southern border,” said Walberg. “Today’s legislation encourages more illegal crossings and manages to deepen the current crisis. It proposes sweeping amnesty without closing loopholes in the law or providing a single dime for border security or humanitarian assistance. This dangerously flawed bill even includes a provision allowing criminal illegal aliens a path to citizenship. Securing our border and fixing our broken immigration system requires better solutions than the bill before us today.”
Congressman Walberg serves on the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Education and Labor Committee as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
