Walberg Statement on Passage of Continuing Resolution

January 25, 2013

Today, the U.S. House passed H.R. 1, the Continuing Resolution. This bill funds the federal government for the remainder of the fiscal year.

After passage, Congressman Tim Walberg stated:

“Passing this trimmed-down budget is an important step in getting our government’s fiscal house in order and getting our economy growing again. This bill will cut more than $100B in government spending and get the government out of the way so that the private-sector can create jobs. Utilizing an unprecedented open process, this bill fulfills another commitment made by Congressional Republicans in our Pledge to America, which started with the repeal of Obamacare and continues with this cut of more than $100 billion in discretionary spending. While I realize it’s only the first step, it does lay the groundwork for future spending cuts and more significant deficit reduction, just as the people have demanded. ”
