Walberg Responds to President's ‘Jobs' Speech

January 25, 2013

Following the President’s Speech about jobs to a Joint Session of Congress, Congressman Tim Walberg released the following statement:

“Job creation has been my number one priority since I took office, and I had hoped that the President was finally ready to join me in encouraging private sector job creation.

Even though the President’s trillion dollar stimulus and government takeover of health care failed to create jobs, I am willing to listen. Unfortunately, during most of the President’s speech, all I heard was more of the same old song and dance: more spending, more regulation, more government-centered stimulus and more of the same failed policies. House Republicans have passed several significant proposals to encourage job creation like repealing the healthcare law and removing regulatory barriers to domestic energy production. Yet those efforts have been blocked by the President and the Democratically-controlled Senate. I hope the President is finally serious about working together to encourage job creation.

To get America working again, I believe we must remove the triple-headed threat of out-of-control spending, new taxation and excessive regulation, and get Washington out of the way so the private sector can create jobs again.”
