Walberg Presses EPA Administrator on Protecting the Great Lakes

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today pressed EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt about his support for programs to preserve and protect the Great Lakes. During a hearing with the Energy and Commerce Committee's Environment Subcommittee, Walberg questioned Administrator Pruitt about maintaining the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, combating harmful algal blooms on Lake Erie, and stopping invasive species like Asian Carp. In response, Administrator Pruitt committed to working with Walberg on each of these critically important areas. Click here to watch Walberg's questions.
"The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative has generated valuable economic and environmental benefits for Michigan, our region, and the entire country. Building on the program's success must remain a bipartisan priority, which I conveyed today to the EPA Administrator," said Congressman Walberg. "From algal blooms to Asian Carp, the Great Lakes' health faces a number of threats, and I will continue working to safeguard our treasured Lakes and preserve them for generations to come."
