Walberg: Pelosi’s Tax and Spending Spree is Too Costly and Extreme

Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) released the following statement after voting against Speaker Pelosi's multi-trillion-dollar tax and spending spree that will drive up the cost of living, cripple our economy, and dramatically expand the size and scope of government.
"Today, Speaker Pelosi rammed through the most radical and expensive spending bill our nation has ever seen. Make no mistake: This spending spree is not fully paid for, as the Congressional Budget Office confirmed. When you factor in all the accounting gimmicks, this monstrosity will balloon the national debt even more.
"Unbelievably, one of the biggest parts of this spending spree is a special tax break for the wealthiest. At the same time, hardworking families will be stuck with soaring inflation, rising gas prices, and a new natural gas tax that will cause home heating costs to spike. This bill is also littered with extreme provisions that will heighten the border crisis, give illegal immigrants eligibility for taxpayer benefits, subsidize the Green New Deal, and expand taxpayer-funded abortions.
"Build Back Broke is a more fitting name for this far-left boondoggle. The economic consequences of these massive tax hikes and unchecked spending will be felt for years to come. The American people want lower costs, lower taxes, and a healthy economy that offers opportunities to succeed. This bill will do exactly the opposite. Now it is up to the Senate to stop this socialist scheme in its tracks."
