Walberg Invites Adrian College Student, Cyberbullying Prevention Advocate to the State of the Union
Washington, D.C.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) today announced cyberbullying prevention advocate and Adrian College student, Haley Petrowski, will be his guest at the President’s State of the Union address on Tuesday. A lifelong resident of Lenawee County, Haley is a graduate of Adrian High School and the current Miss River Raisin Festival. Haley courageously speaks about her own personal experience dealing with cyberbullying in order to raise awareness about the issue. Her impact also extends to the policy arena, helping champion anti-cyberbullying legislation in the Michigan Legislature.
“Having recently met with Haley, I am inspired by her courage and commitment to helping others in our community,” said Congressman Walberg. “Cyberbullying is an issue that too often is overlooked but has a major impact on many young people at critical junctures in their life. By using her story and her platform to shine a much-needed light on this problem, Haley is already making a big difference—and is destined for even bigger things.”
“I would like to thank Congressman Walberg for listening to my story and for the honor of being his guest at the State of the Union. Social media is a constant presence in our daily lives, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share my journey and highlight our anti-cyberbullying efforts in Michigan. It is my hope the dark times I experienced can help foster greater understanding and encourage those who are struggling,” said Haley Petrowski.
