Walberg Introduces Legislation to Help New Veterans

Washington, D.C. - Today, Rep. Tim Walberg introduced H.R. 3493, the Servicemembers Transition Improvement Act, which would assist members of the Armed Forces transitioning into civilian life by requiring the Department of Defense to provide the contact information for separating service members to state veterans affairs departments. H.R. 3493 is a companion bill to legislation recently introduced by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA).

"Caring for our men and women in uniform does not end when they leave military service. By strengthening the connection between new veterans and state and county veterans service organizations, this legislation will help veterans get the benefits they need and have earned," said Rep. Walberg.
