Walberg Donates Books to Monroe County Learning Bank
Monroe, Mich.—Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) presented a donation of new books and financial literacy resources to the Monroe County Learning Bank on Tuesday. The books were obtained as part of the Library of Congress Surplus Book Program, which makes surplus books available for Members of Congress to request and donate to eligible organizations and educational institutions free of charge.
"The Monroe County Learning Bank is a wonderful asset to our community," said Congressman Walberg. "It is an honor to present the Learning Bank with these new resources from the Library of Congress, which I hope will be a valuable benefit for students as they work to prepare themselves for further educational and employment opportunities."
As a part of Monroe Public Schools, the Learning Bank is a collaboration of educational institutions, non-profits, and businesses, working together to equip community members with basic skills needed to succeed in post-secondary training and education. These resources include GED prep, tutoring, financial literacy, and career counseling, among many other beneficial preparations.
