Walberg Celebrates Haylett Family from Hillsdale as Angels in Adoption
Hillsdale, MI – Congressman Tim Walberg recognized Tim and Michelle Haylett of Hillsdale this week as the 2020 Angels in Adoption from Michigan’s 7th Congressional District. Angels in Adoption is a program of the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute (CCAI) that provides an opportunity for Members of Congress to honor constituents who have enriched the lives of foster children and orphans.
"The Hayletts exemplify what it means to be a loving neighbor that faithfully serves those around them,” said Walberg. “Over the past several years, Tim and Michelle have opened their home to numerous foster children and helped many more through their advocacy in the court system. It is an honor to recognize such an incredible couple and celebrate their deep compassion and commitment to children in need."
Tim and Michelle Haylett knew for years that they wanted to be short-term, emergency foster parents for children facing challenging home situations. After their three sons were grown, Tim and Michelle carefully designed a place affectionately called “Camp Haylett,” which has served 35 foster children in the past three years. In addition to being foster parents, the Hayletts are part of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Hillsdale, a non-profit organization that advocates for foster children in the court system. Tim serves as CASA’s Board President, and Michelle is a volunteer.
