Walberg Calls on Michigan Leaders to Condemn Anti-Semitic Rally in Dearborn

October 11, 2023

Jackson, MI. -- Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) called on Michigan leaders to condemn a rally in Dearborn, Michigan, last night where speakers defended Hamas and called for Israel to burn to its demise. He released the following statement:

"The rhetoric displayed and timing of the rally in Dearborn last night was vile and indefensible. At least 22 Americans are dead, and more are being held hostage by a terrorist organization. This rally occurred in the immediate aftermath of the largest attack on Jewish civilians since the Holocaust. During the rally, there was a failure to differentiate the Palestinian people and the terrorist organization, Hamas, which uses those Palestinian people as human shields.

There are decapitated babies, raped and murdered women, and over 1000 innocent civilians now dead. As Americans, they have the constitutional right to engage in this type of speech and assembly, but it is morally repugnant and an embarrassment to our state and nation.

This does not represent the values of Michigan, and I call on all of the leaders in our state to condemn anti-Semitism, terrorism, and anyone who celebrates it."

Rep. Tim Walberg is the Dean of the Michigan Congressional Delegation.
