Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Tim Walberg (MI-07) today voted in favor of H.R. 6, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Act, which will help combat the opioid crisis by advancing treatment and recovery initiatives, improving prevention, protecting our communities, and fighting deadly illicit synthetic drugs like fentanyl. H.R. 6 combines over 70 legislative proposals, including two bipartisan bills authored by Reps. Walberg and Debbie Dingell, Jessie's Law and the Safe Disposal of Unused Medication Act. H.R 6 passed by a 396-14 vote and now heads to the Senate for further consideration. Click here to watch Walberg's remarks on the House floor.

"Throughout Michigan and beyond, the opioid crisis is taking lives and devastating the dreams of a generation," said Walberg. "Today's legislation is the culmination of countless hours spent hearing from families affected by addiction, collaborating with local leaders, and consulting with top experts. I'm pleased two of my bipartisan bills are incorporated in this significant legislative package, which will make a real difference in helping save lives and fight back against addiction. I urge the Senate to take swift action to advance these solutions."
