Walberg Applauds House Passage of Bipartisan Bill to Confront Rising Threat of Methamphetamine

March 1, 2022

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. 854, Methamphetamine Response Act, a bipartisan, bicameral bill to designate methamphetamine as an emerging drug threat and direct the Office of National Drug Control Policy to implement a response plan. Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) released the following statement in support of the legislation:

“The ongoing drug crisis continues to tragically cut short the lives of too many Americans. While attention is often given to more powerful opioids such as fentanyl, methamphetamine overdoses have rapidly increased over the past few years in Michigan and across the nation, particularly in rural areas. By passing this legislation, we are taking important steps to ensure the federal government is better equipped to confront this emerging threat head-on. I am pleased to see the Methamphetamine Response Act pass the House and look forward to it being signed into law.”
