June 11, 2025

Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) announced the winners of the 2025 Congressional Art Competition for Michigan’s 5th District.

Hailey Robbins, a student from Buchanan, received first place for her entry, Northern Lights over Michigan. The medium is acrylic paint on canvas, featuring her interpretation of the Northern Lights that she saw over a local farm in Michigan. Her winning artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol Building.

Second place was awarded to Ava Kramer from Jonesville High School. Her entry, Downtown Michigan, will be displayed in Congressman Walberg's Jackson District Office. Ava's art teacher at Jonesville High School is Sarah Sundberg.

"Each year, I'm amazed by the artistic abilities of students across Michigan's 5th Congressional District," said Rep. Walberg. "Thank you to all students who participated in this year's Congressional Art Competition, and congratulations to both Hailey and Ava for creating such unique and impressive pieces that display the beauty that Michigan has to offer. Their hard work, creativity, and passion are evident in their artwork."
