Walberg Announces Winners of 2024 Congressional Art Competition

Jonesville, MI -- Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) announced the winners of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for Michigan’s 5th District.
Nathan Winn, a senior at Jonesville High School in Hillsdale County, received first place for his entry, Messenger to Dragon Palace. The medium is pen and ink on paper, featuring a detailed turtle casting a shadow. Nathan's art teacher at Jonesville High School is Sarah Sundberg, and his winning artwork will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol Building.
Second place was awarded to Alexi Shelton from Homer Community Schools. His entry, Warm Sister Smile, will be displayed in Congressman Walberg’s Niles office. Alexi's art teacher at Homer is Joseph Mueller.
“Throughout the years, students in southern Michigan have displayed incredible artistic talent, and 2024 was no exception,” said Rep. Walberg. “The students who submitted this year displayed creativity, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness. Congratulations to both Nathan and Alexi for producing these brilliant pieces and showcasing the abilities of young students across southern Michigan.
