Walberg Announces Participation in Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program

Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) announced that his office will be participating in the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program, which was established to create employment opportunities for veterans within the House of Representatives. The person selected for this position will join his district office for a paid, two-year position as a district representative and will attend local meetings and events on behalf of Congressman Walberg and act as a facilitator between constituents and federal, state, and local agencies. These two-year positions provide veterans with experience and exposure to broaden career opportunities.

"This program provides veterans with invaluable experience and helps broaden their career opportunities. I encourage all eligible and interested Michiganders to apply." 

Veteran Applicant Requirements 
You must meet all the following requirements: 

  • Honorably discharged;
  • Released from active duty within the last six years;
  • Pay grades at or below E-5/O-3/W-2;
    • Veterans promoted to the pay grades of E-6/O-4/W-3 within 6-months of separation from active duty are eligible if they must also meet ALL other eligibility requirements.
  • Veterans who are in receipt of a 20-year or Temporary Early Retirement (TERA) retirement are not eligible for the program.

Gold Star Family Applicant Requirements 
Applicants must be the spouse, child/step-child, parent/step-parent, sibling/step-sibling of a veteran who died: 

  • In the line of duty while serving in the Armed Forces; or
  • Of a service-connected disability.

Active-Duty Spouse Applicant Requirements 
Must be the spouse of an Active-Duty service member. Active-duty service members work for the military full-time and are subject to permanent change of station, or permanent change of assignment orders, upon completion of each tour of duty.

  • Those subject to Title 10 mobilization are not eligible.
