Walberg Amendments Pass House in NDAA

Washington, D.C. -- Today, Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-05) voted in support of H.R. 8070, the Servicemembers Quality Of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for FY25, which included four amendments authored by Walberg.
"The Servicemembers Quality Of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act gives junior enlisted servicemembers a 19.5% raise, boosts funding for housing upgrades, and takes multifaceted reforms to improve life for servicemembers and their families," said Rep. Walberg. "Among many other important provisions, I was proud to help usher through amendments to bolster border security, address security risks of autonomous vehicles from foreign adversaries, ban the use of TikTok in Department of Defense schools, and require reports of illegal immigrants attempting to gain access to military bases."
Walberg Amendments
- Study on the Testing of Foreign Adversary Autonomous Vehicles in the United States - requires the Department of Defense to conduct a study on the effects on the national security of the United States of highly automated vehicles associated with foreign adversary countries operating and testing in the United States.
- No TikTok in Department of Defense Schools - requires the Director of Defense Education Activity (DODEA) to publish policy guidance prohibiting the use of TikTok for instructional purposes at schools operated by the DODEA.
- Illegal Aliens on Military Bases - requires an annual report from DoD on the number of attempts illegal aliens make to get onto military bases.
- Northern Border Security - requires a report from the Department of Defense on their efforts to help the Department of Homeland Security secure our northern border.
