Walberg: 21st Century Cures Offers Hope, Healthier Future
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tim Walberg (MI-07) voted today for the 21st Century Cures Act, a landmark initiative that aims to unleash the promise of new innovation and speed up the rate of medical breakthroughs. The bipartisan legislation, which passed the House by 344-77, is fiscally responsible, with the funding fully paid for and subjected to oversight and review to ensure its efficient and effective use. In addition to bipartisan support in the House, the legislation is supported by hundreds of patient groups, research institutions, cancer centers, technology groups, medical device companies, and more.
"With the explosion of advancements in science and technology, the possibilities for medical breakthroughs to improve and save lives are tremendous. By boosting research and modernizing the drug and device approval process, we can accelerate new cures and treatments for a healthier future. The 21st Century Cures Act offers new hope to patients and families suffering from diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and cancer today and for generations to come," said Walberg.
