Rep Walberg Votes To Reform Federal Employee Pensions
Today, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform passed H.R. 3813, the Securing Annuities for Federal Employees Act. H.R. 3813 would require federal employees contribute more towards their pension plans, bringing their pensions and total compensation more in line with the private sector.
Rep. Tim Walberg, a member of the Committee, released the following statement after the vote:
“It’s past time that the federal employee pension system was reformed, understanding that the hard-working taxpayers that pay our wages and benefits need relief as well. By requiring federal workers to put more into their pensions, it will not only increase transparency within the government, but save taxpayers billions of dollars each year and put our country on sounder financial footing. I look forward to this bill receiving further floor consideration,” commented Congressman Walberg following the vote.
