Rep Walberg Votes for Increased EPA Transparency on Energy Rules
Washington, D.C. - Today Rep Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 1582, the Energy Consumers Relief Act, to help protect consumers from rising energy costs by increasing transparency for EPA rules. H.R. 1582 requires that before the EPA finalizes an energy related rule costing more than $1 billion, they provide Congress a detailed report on the cost, benefit, energy price and job impact. The legislation also prohibits the EPA from finalizing a rule that the Secretary of Energy, in consultation other relevant agencies, determines would hurt the economy.
"Affordable and reliable energy is vital for a healthy and growing economy. It's critical that we understand the full impact of proposed billion dollar rules before they are implemented, not after. It only makes sense to count the cost to avoid hurting job creation and increasing energy prices on families and businesses." commented Rep Walberg following the vote.
