Rep Walberg Votes To Block Congressional Pay Raise

January 17, 2013

Today Rep Walberg voted in favor of H.R. 6726, the Congressional Pay Freeze and Fiscal Responsibility Act, to extend the current pay freeze for federal employees and Members of Congress for one year. H.R. 6726 passed with bipartisan support by a vote of 287 - 129.

"It is fiscally irresponsible to lift the pay freeze for Members of Congress while our national debt soars above $16 trillion. Instead, we need to look for more ways to cut spending and encourage long-term job creation. Every day hard-working families and small businesses across Michigan live within their means and Congress has a responsibility to do the same," commented Rep Walberg following the vote.
