Rep Walberg Introduces Bill to Rein in EPA

January 25, 2013

This week Congressman Tim Walberg (R-MI) introduced new legislation to rein in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), lower consumer energy costs, and protect American jobs. H.R. 750, the Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act, would prevent the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases without Congressional approval and stop Washington bureaucrats from implementing a cap-and-trade program that will drive up energy prices on families and businesses. H.R. 750 is a companion to a bill, S. 228, offered in the U.S. Senate by Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming.

After introducing the bill, Congressman Tim Walberg stated, “I am introducing the Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act to restore jobs and remove the multitude of burdensome regulations which hinder our nation’s economic growth. When enacted, this bill would eliminate the abuse of about a dozen rules and administrative actions and stop Washington bureaucrats from imposing job destroying regulations. Congress has a duty in setting our nation’s energy and environmental policy by ending this bureaucratic attempt at a cap-and-trade scheme.”
