House Passes Walberg Legislation to Protect Workers, Restore Wages

January 8, 2015

Washington, D.C. – Today the House passed the Save American Workers Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by Representatives Todd Young (IN-9), Dan Lipinski (IL-3), Tim Walberg (MI-7), Pete Olson (TX-22) and Mike Kelly (PA-3) to repeal the 30-hour definition of "full-time employment" under the Affordable Care Act and replace it with the traditional 40-hour definition.

"The President's health care law has led to one hit after another to the American people's pocketbooks, including a loss in hours and wages for hourly workers. As Chairman of the Subcommittee on Workforce Protections, I remain deeply committed to safeguarding workers and businesses from Obamacare's damaging economic consequences. Restoring the traditional 40-hour work week through the Save American Workers Act is an important reform that will protect employees and provide certainty for employers," said Walberg.

Congressman Walberg serves on the House Education and the Workforce Committee as Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. For more information on Walberg's work in Congress visit walberg.house.gov.
