WTVB: Walberg honors Branch County Veteran Rod Fikel

On Veterans Day, Congressman Tim Walberg recognized Rod Fikel of Coldwater as the November Veteran of the Month.

Fikel, a U.S. Army veteran, served as a Combat Documentation Specialist and was deployed to Kuwait and Iraq between 1989 and 1996.

Walberg read a list of accommodations presented to Fikel during his years of service.

He was honored for his military service and his ongoing contributions to the Branch County community. Rep. Walberg’s office presented Fikel with the Congressional Record containing the Congressman’s remark

Congressman Walberg described Fikel as a “cornerstone of the veteran community” for his active role in the American Legion and the Branch County Department of Veterans Affairs’ community committee.

The Veteran of the Month program is a monthly initiative to honor veterans in Michigan’s 5th Congressional District, and nominations are currently being accepted. https://walberg.house.gov/services/veteran-month
