Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg has announced that Hillsdale County farmer Jennifer Lewis will be accompanying him at President Trump’s State of the Union address on Tuesday.

She is a third-generation dairy farmer in Jonesville who has spent time advocating for new trade deals like the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement.

Lewis also serves as the District 2 director on the Michigan Farm Bureau board of directors, representing members in Branch, Calhoun, Hillsdale, Jackson and Lenawee counties.

Walberg said in a statement released by his office “After months of advocating for the USMCA, I am pleased this long-awaited trade agreement is finally law of the land and our farmers can start to reap the benefits.”

Lewis says “Under the USMCA, farmers across Michigan will have more promising market opportunities and the confidence needed to succeed in the agriculture industry.”
