WSJM: Walberg human trafficking bill passes Senate

The U.S. Senate has approved legislation from Congressman Tim Walberg intended to combat human trafficking.
Walberg’s Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act would get training to federal employees. Walberg says human trafficking is a horrific practice that in many cases could be prevented.
“Reports showed tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors were released to supposedly vetted sponsors who then forced them into illegal labor,” Walberg said. “I’m proud to see the Senate pass my bill, the Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act, to confront this crisis by ensuring Department of Labor employees are trained.”
The bill requires the Department of Labor to train employees to spot trafficking, understand current trends, and quickly refer suspected cases to law enforcement.
The legislation was approved by the House back in March and was passed by the Senate with unanimous consent on Wednesday.
