WLEN: Hillsdale’s Patrick Knight named Veteran of the Month

Hillsdale’s Patrick Knight has been named Veteran of the Month for July.

Knight served in the Navy as a Search and Rescue helicopter crewman from 1966 to 1970, including with Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Seven, known as the “Sea Devils,” which assisted in rescuing roughly 150 downed pilots during the Vietnam War.

His awards include the Navy Commendation Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. After his military service, Knight spent 32 years with the Riverview Police Department, retiring as Chief of Police.

Tim Walberg presented Patrick with the Congressional Record containing his remarks honoring Patrick’s service and dedication to our country.

Knight now serves on the boards for Hillsdale County’s Emergency Telephone Services and the Hillsdale Senior Center.
